This course encourages young artists to explore and express their unique narratives through creative visual art. Students will work on a variety of projects, ranging from 2D works to 3D installations, using a diverse array of media. In addition, we assist students in creating artwork for various national and local competitions, helping them showcase their talent and gain valuable experience. Our focus is on developing creative thinking skills, enabling students to produce artwork that stands out and enhances their portfolios.

Students will learn how to express their creativity through various media in this class. The instructor will assist students in experimenting and bringing their concepts to life to create outstanding visual pieces for their portfolios.

Students will be introduced to the character development process, from concept to final rendering, for various genres such as animation, feature film, and video games in this course. They will be exposed to the creative process, including how to create thumbnails, grayscale studies, color and light studies, and a final representation of a prop, character, or creature.

Prop and vehicle design is a key component of any strong Entertainment Design portfolio. This course guides students through a step-by-step process to create compelling and functional designs for props and vehicles used in games, films, and animations. Students will learn how to conduct visual research, develop thumbnail sketches, create detailed line drawings, and complete final renderings. Emphasis is placed on design thinking, storytelling, and presentation techniques essential to concept art.
WEDNESDAY
2:00 pm – 5:00 pm Painting Fundamentals with Digital Media for Beginners [Yoona Oh]

This course is intended to teach basic tools, focusing primarily on the painting features of Adobe Photoshop. It is perfect for students with no prior experience using Photoshop. Students will learn how to set up a canvas and use the necessary tools for digital painting. Each week, a new lecture and in-class exercise is presented, such as a sphere lighting study, texture study, still life study, landscape master copy, and more.

This course focuses on the fundamentals of designing elements for video games and film environments. Students will learn how to conduct research, create a landmark, and design both the interior and exterior settings for their own story.
THURSDAY
4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Perspective 101 and Make Your Own Sketchbook [Nathan Cooke]

This beginner-friendly course introduces the fundamental principles of perspective using graphite pencil. Students will develop skills in direct observational drawing, learning to capture real objects with accurate proportions and full tonal value all within 20 minutes. The course also encourages the habit of daily sketching in a personal sketchbook to build confidence and consistency.
6:30 pm – 9:30 pm Visual Communication Sketch [Nathan Cooke]

Platform: In-person
Students will learn how to quickly sketch ideas by simplifying objects using organic shapes, such as animals, insects, reptiles, and more. For the first five weeks, they will study the fundamentals of visual language and perspective, as well as practice quickly sketching what they see and imagine. During the remaining weeks, the instructor will teach and guide them through the process of creating a personal sketchbook with composition and layout studies.
FRIDAY

The most important foundation of all. Students will learn how to draw human figures and learn about human anatomy. They will draw from observing live models. Students will learn the importance of gestures, volumes, and weights, and apply these principles to their drawings. This foundation is important even for professionals.

Students will be challenged to develop design solutions by experimenting with a wide range of media, including logos, books, and packaging, to create compelling graphic identities and branded experiences.
SATURDAY

This beginner-level course offers step-by-step instruction in acrylic painting, focusing on the fundamentals of light, shadow, color theory, and edge control. Students will build core skills through a variety of projects, including still life, self-portraits, master copies, and direct observation from a professional model. It is perfect for those new to painting or looking to strengthen their foundational techniques.
